About Ankiro
Ankiro is a software company in which the combination of highly educated employees within both linguistics and computer sciences creates both a unique atmosphere and a creative development environment where two days are never the same. Strong contacts to universities, partners and customers are an important part of our work and we are constantly involved in new and exciting projects.
Ankiro's expertise is in the areas of user-friendly search tools. User-friendly because we combine our knowledge of both language and computer science in our search tools. We do not take our point of departure in technology, but rather in the language the users actually use. Hence our slogan: "Digital Tools on Human Terms": A unique combination of language databases (dictionaries, thesauruses, ontologies) and fuzzy logic makes possible what we call "semantic search" – searching that finds what users are looking for, not just what they write.
Working at Ankiro
At Ankiro, we believe that all employees should both enjoy their work and be challenged by it. Post-vocational training and career planning are offered continuously. And there is still time for some foosball!
We place great emphasis on an informal tone and a flat management structure. All staff members are responsible for their own projects and for completing them.
Ankiro is located on two floors on a Gammel Strand street, in one of the oldest buildings in Copenhagen, overlooking historical Frederiksholms Kanal, Thorvaldsen's Museum and Christiansborg, the Danish Parliament.
History
In 1998, Jubii dominated the internet scene in Denmark. Jubii's owners, Martin Thorborg, Kasper Larsen and Henrik Sørensen needed a natural language search engine for their new portal. They met Bo Vincents and together they formed the company ACSYS, the forerunner of Ankiro.
ACSYS developed a crawler and search engine, which formed the basis for Jubii's Danish searches for many years. In 2000, focus turned to the "enterprise search" market: Search engines for intranet sites and homepages. ACSYS was transformed into Ankiro, which quickly gained a leading position in Denmark through the use of information search, knowledge management and language technology. Today, Ankiro is owned 100% by mr. Bo Vincents (CEO) and mr. Steen Bøhm Andersen (CTO).
